Anglers, it's gonna be a great week.
We've got just a sampling of great fishing opportunities for you fresh out of this week’s Fish Reports
1. Steelhead fishing prospects improve on the Rogue, Illinois and Umpqua.
ODFW fish biologists report that conditions on the Rogue River are pretty much ideal from the headwaters to the mouth, as the river drops into shape for the coming week. The Illinois and Umpqua are also good prospects, as these streams have been producing fish.
2. Surplus steelhead up for grabs at Garrison Lake
Surplus hatchery steelhead were recently released into Garrison Lake in Port Orford. This lake also has a fair number of trout and offers viable alternative to river fishing when streams are blown out.
3. Lunker trout headed to Canby Pond, St. Louis Ponds
Yet another load of lunker trout is headed to Willamette Valley Ponds from Roaring River Hatchery. Early surplus brood trout are being released this week – 50 at Canby and 320 in St. Louis Ponds #6.
4. Still ice fishing to be had down south
There is still ice fishing to be had, with a couple of southern Oregon venues to consider. Lake of the Woods, Diamond Lake, and Fourmile Lake have all been iced over and producing fish for those hardy souls willing to get out on frozen water. A healthy dose of caution is advised, as these spots can become very dangerous.
And there are hundreds of other opportunities in this weeks' Fish Reports.
