Summer steelhead angling is fair to good. There are excellent numbers of fish throughout the system, with the highest concentrations now in the upper river. Fishing conditions are tough this time of year with low clear water but recent rains and cool nights should improve fish activity. Concentrate effort in the early morning and late evening, and use lighter gear and small presentations to entice more bites.

Anglers are reminded that Three Rivers is closed to all angling from the mouth to the hatchery weir July 16 – Sept. 30.

Fall Chinook are starting to show up in the bay and a few are being caught, but anglers are reminded that the Nestucca River is closed to Chinook angling upstream of Cloverdale bridge Aug. 1 – Sept. 15.

Angling for cutthroat should be fair to good, sea-runs should be throughout the system. Try casting spinners or streamer flies in areas with cover, or dead drifting small presentations.
