Some of the best trout fishing of the year
Takes place in the spring. Water conditions are good, and lakes, ponds and reservoirs throughout the state have been and are being stocked. Check out the trout stocking schedules and Rec Report updates for the best opportunities near you.
Apply for a controlled hunt by May 15
The deadline is approaching; don’t wait until the last minute and get stuck in a long line. Apply online, at a license sales agent or by mail/fax order. Remember there have been tag reductions in a few units in eastern Oregon due to the severe winter.
Salmon fishing remains open on coastal rivers and streams
Recently announced closures and restrictions for the southern Oregon ocean salmon fishery DO NOT affect coastal rivers and streams. Coastal rivers and streams will remain open to salmon fishing under the regulations found in the 2017 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations.
Spring turkey season is on
See the turkey hunting forecast for more on what to expect.
Bear hunting improves
Significant green-up and increased bear activity is being reported. The best spring bear hunting usually happens later in the season which closes May 31.
