The river is open for salmon and steelhead but fishing is slow.

USGS hydrological data for April 1 shows Sandy flows increasing significantly the past week to 3,700 cfs, a gauge reading of10.65 feet and the water temperature on the Little Sandy at Bull Run warming to 48° F.
