If you’ve been telling yourself you should just get this done, you should listen. Reporting early helps you avoid that last-minute rush of procrastinators and give you some to fix any errors. Learn more about how to report.

Winter steelhead are here: Are you ready?

We’re approaching the peak of the winter steelhead season in some areas. If you’ve never been, or just want some pointers to be more successful, we’ve got options. 10 tips to catch winter steelhead can help you come up with a winning strategy to catch more fish. And our winter steelhead fishing videos on YouTube offers tips on gearing up and pointers from fish biologists about how to fish their local rivers.

Apply for your spring bear tag

If you plan to hunt spring bear this year, you have until Feb. 10 to apply for your tag.

It’s been cold enough for ice fishing

Ice fishing is underway at several locations including Lake of the Woods, Unity Reservoir, Yellowjacket Reservoir, Fish Lake (SW Zone) and other locations in the SE and NE zones. Early season ice can be tricky so follow these precautions when stepping onto the ice for the first time.

Take a fishing class

New to trout or steelhead fishing? ODFW has two upcoming workshops to take you from awkward to accomplished. Join us for Trout fishing 101 on Jan. 29 in Albany and/or Steelhead fishing 101 in Feb. 12 in Clackamas. Learn more and register.
