The ice is beginning to melt, and there now is a substantial amount of open water near the upper end of the reservoir. The best access to this area is near Social Security Point, and anglers should be prepared to have to walk to get to the water’s edge. There is a thin opening of water around the ice near Mason Dam boat launch. Once the ice is gone, the lake will be near the level for the bottom of Mason Cam Boat Launch to be used.
Remember that tiger musky and bull trout must be released unharmed.
