Steelhead fishing is closed on the Wallowa River and will re-open on Sept. 1, 2022. Fishing for trout and whitefish can be good in the spring. Fishing conditions will be best when flows are lower, and fishing may be more difficult when the weather warms and the river rises. Anglers are reminded that bull trout and Chinook salmon may be encountered in the Wallowa River and must be released unharmed
