Opening day was slow due to cold water temperatures and drift of filamentous algae. Fishing will improve for small resident redband trout as water temperatures increase.
Best fishing is near the town of Beatty. There is also plenty of public water along Sprague River highway. Flows are increasing fast at 883 cfs. Remember, regulations have changed to a bag limit of one redband trout greater that 15 inches
