Emergency steelhead angling and retention closures on the Deschutes River have been extended into 2022. Thermal angling closures below Moody Rapid are also currently in effect. Be sure to check the regulation updates before heading to the river.

Trout fishing has been consistent on the lower Deschutes. Trout anglers have had the most success nymphing. Hot weather in the forecast this week might increase caddis on the river.

Steelhead fishing is currently closed on the Deschutes, but the steelhead fishery will reopen Monday, Aug. 15. Salmon fishing on the lower river is currently closed as well, except for at Sherars Falls, where salmon fishing opened Aug. 1 under permanent rule. Salmon fishing on the lower Deschutes will re-open concurrently with the steelhead fishery on Aug 15.
