Fall Chinook fishing is fair to good in Nestucca Bay. The majority of the fishery will be in the estuary until we get a good rain, but there are a few fish poking into the lower river.
Coho fishing has been fairly slow thus far. The wild coho fishery for Nestucca Bay opened Saturday, Sept. 10. The season is open Wednesdays and Saturdays Sept. 10 – Oct. 15. Open dates for wild coho are: Sept. 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 28 and Oct. 1, 5, 8, 12, 15. As part of your 2 adult salmon/steelhead daily bag limit, only 1 can be a wild adult coho. No more than 1 wild adult coho for the season from the Nestucca Basin. No more than 1 wild jack coho may be retained as part of the jack salmon bag limit per day during the open season for adult wild coho. Wild coho open areas are Nestucca Bay from the mouth upstream to the Cloverdale Bridge, and on the Little Nestucca River upstream to the Hwy 130 Bridge (MP 1.2)
Summer steelhead fishing continues to be fair. There are fish scattered throughout the fishery and as the fall nights cool water temperatures some of the fish that have been holding may get more active and willing to bite. We continue to get reports of fish being caught on the upper river.
