The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Nymphing has been the most effective method and getting your flies down deep can be very beneficial. We like using tungsten nymphs to make sure were getting down quick. Flashback PT’s, Copper John’s, Prince Nymphs and Perdigons are some of our favorites. Swinging leeches, sculpin and crayfish streamers can be a fun and effective way to target some more aggressive fish. Steelhead are around and can be caught swinging flies or on larger nymphs. Please keep wild fish in the water and release them quickly. Most reports we’ve heard of steelhead catches have still been down low in the system although there are fish throughout already. Fall fishing on the Lower can be really fun so get out there and have a good time!

Recommended Nymphs: Jimmy Legs #8 Black or Brown, Trout Retriever black or brown #8-10, Jigged Hares Ear #14-16, Jigged Pheasant Tail #14-16, Psycho Prince #14-16, Duracell Jig #14-18,  Copper John #14-18
