You're likely to encounter a little bit of snow on the way to the lake. ODFW stocked the lake last month with 12-inch rainbow trout. Fishing for rainbow trout should be slow.‌

A few lake trout are also showing up in the catch. Lake trout typically hold in very deep water. Points that drop off quickly are the best places to catch them. They will also be moving into spawning areas which make them more accessible offshore. Brook trout and lake trout are also cruising the shoreline looking for places to spawn.‌

Please report any kokanee caught from the lake. The lake is currently 10 percent full. ‌

Launching boats becomes particularly challenging as the lake recedes. There is no official concrete boat ramp with dock. Launching takes place from a sandy shoreline. Only small boats are recommended. You can also call Lake of the Woods Resort for updates.
