The release from the dam is 450 cfs, and the temperature at release is 44.5F. The Applegate is currently open for trout and winter steelhead fishing. Only hatchery winter steelhead can be retained.
The Applegate is currently high but fishable in the lower river. Late last week there were anglers out but only one steelhead was reported caught. Might have better luck at the Provolt seed orchard, and Cantrall-Buckley Park in Ruch as well as the limited Forest Service land upstream. Winter steelhead are showing up in the Applegate and decent numbers of hatchery fish have been making there way into the trap at the base of the dam.
