Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs. Flows are currently in great shape, about 1,000 cfs at the Waterloo gauge.
This memorable summer steelhead run is winding down, but fish will be in the river and available for several more months. Approximately 18,000 hatchery steelhead have crossed Willamette Falls so far this year and most of them are now in their home waters.
Over 2,800 of these fish have already been counted at Foster Dam. The spring Chinook run is mostly done as well. Most of these fish can be found in the upper sections of the river above Waterloo.
