Fishing has been Fair-Good. River Flows:??Madras @ 3,740cfs.??@ 56.8 degrees.?? Moody @ 4,770cfs.
The Deschutes is now in full on Caddis mode.?? You can catch trout all day on dries if you want.?? Early morning at sunrise and again at sunset are of course the prime times but through out the day look for shady areas and you will do just fine on caddis adults.?? PMD's are winding down for the season.??
Steelhead: Lower Deschutes steelhead action has been on the slow side due to the lower river water temps warming up. Hopefully with cooler weather this week it might help cool the lower river temps down a bit.
Suggested steelhead patterns:?? Summer Run, Green Butt Skunk, Purple Peril, Streetwalker, Freight Train, Purple Articulated Leech, Fly Dejour, Undertaker and Steel Tooka.
Suggested Trout patterns for the month of August.?? Surface Hatches:???? ?? Various Caddis, PMD, Slate Winged Olive Dun, Little Yellow Stones.
Patterns:?? Tan and Olive Elk Hair Caddis (Sz 12-18), Light Cahill (Sz 12-16), Blue Dun (Sz 10-14), Western Green Drake (Sz 10-14)
Nymphs:?? Rock Worm, Cased Caddis, Various Nymphs. ???? Patterns:???? Kaufmann's Black?? Stone (Sz 4-8), Golden Stone Nymph (Sz 6-8), Green Rock Worm (Sz 12-16), Cream or Green Cased Caddis (Sz 12-16), Little Green Caddis (Sz 14-18), Tan Deep Sparkle Pupa (Sz 12-14), Emergent Sparkle Pupa (Sz 12-14)
