The mainstem below tidewater is open for trout through Oct. 31. Anglers might be interested in exploring the cooler waters of the Elk’s tributaries through the end of August. Trout fishing in streams above tidewater ends Aug. 31. The daily limit is two trout with an 8-inch minimum length. To check river current conditions, call 541-332-0405.
