The Miami will be open for retention of hatchery salmon but will be closed to wild Chinook retention for the remainder of the year due to low returns forecasted for the fall run. See the regulation updates for more information. There are no hatchery Chinook releases on the Miami river, so numbers of retainable Chinook will be very low.
There is a catch-and-release only fishery for chum salmon on the Miami River Sept. 16 to Nov. 15. This fishery usually peaks in early November, and it will take some rain to get fish moving in.
Cutthroat trout fishing remains fair. The season is open through Oct. 31.
