Howard Prairie has started to fill with recent rain and snow and is at 7 percent full. Howard produced some nice-size trout last fall, so anglers may want to give it a try with cooling temperatures over the next month or two.

Deeper water is available at various points near the dam, but cool water from Grizzly Creek at the upper end of the reservoir or springs near Red Rocks may provide some opportunity in these areas.

Anglers have success fishing for trout with PowerBait from shore. Anglers trolling from inflatables/kayaks can pick up fish with a wedding ring and worm combination. The low water boat ramp near the dam is not recommended due to recent rain and snow.
