There should be a few winter steelhead showing up in the Kilchis. There are no hatchery releases on this basin so most steelhead encountered will be wild which are catch-and-release only. The steelhead run on the Kilchis peaks January through March but will be best during the latter half of that period.
The Mapes Creek (logging bridge) boat ramp was damaged in the storm a few weeks ago, and it will take some time to get it cleared. Boaters should use extreme caution and check the ramp before launching there.
