The Illinois River is open to catch-and-release trout and winter steelhead fishing. Check the regulations for more information on the harvest of winter steelhead. Recent reports indicate winter steelhead have been caught throughout the open sections of the Illinois so fish are available and are moving. Flows right now are a little high but are predicted to drop off into more fishable shape by this weekend.
