The mainstem water conditions are looking good for anglers this weekend that are pursuing spring Chinook. Anglers have been catching spring Chinook throughout the mainstem. ‌

A few anglers have started to fish for shad. As the water drops angler success should improve. ‌

Some anglers have started fishing for early season bass, and reportedly getting some large smallmouth. Early warm days are a great chance to catch some great bass. There is no bag limit on bass caught in the Umpqua. There are a few reports of some striped bass being caught in the lower sections.‌

Open for catch-and-release only for trout.‌

There is NO HARVEST OF WILD ADULT OR JACK SPRING CHINOOK in the Umpqua this year. The river remains open for hatchery Chinook through June 1. Fall seasons have not yet been finalized.
