Some anglers are reportedly getting some large smallmouth. Early warm days are a great chance to catch some nice bass. There is no bag limit on bass caught in the Umpqua. There are a few reports of some striped bass being caught in the lower sections.
Open for catch-and-release only for trout.
The river remains open for hatchery Chinook and one adult wild chinook a day and five adult wild Chinook for the year from July 1 – Nov. 30. Catch rates this last week was fair to good with the recent rains and drop in water temperatures.
Wild coho will open Sept. 14 – Oct. 15. Only one wild adult coho per day and 3 for the season. One wild jack per day during the period. Wild coho may not be retained above the Scottsburg Bridge.
