Thief Valley Reservoir has begun refilling and is now about 23 percent full. Few fish probably survived the summer draw down. However, the reservoir was recently stocked with 43,000 small rainbow trout. The average size of the fish stocked was 7 inches, and at the time they were released only 13 percent of the fish were larger than the legal harvest size of 8 inches. However, these fish should grow quickly and provide fishing opportunities throughout the winter and into next spring.
The reservoir level is still well below the bottom of the boat ramp so bank angling will be the best way to fish Thief Valley for a while yet.
