The Lower D is in great spring shape. March Browns and BWO hatches are happening, and fish are taking well-presented dries in the right spots. Expect the hatch window to be midday into early afternoon. Nymphing continues to be productive throughout the day, with stoneflies, caddis pupae, and general attractor nymphs like Perdigons doing the heavy lifting.
Water temps are slowly creeping up, and fish are more active than they were in late winter. With spring runoff not yet in full swing, now’s a solid time to wade fish or float the lower stretches. Expect things to get even better as we head toward the salmonfly hatch in May.
