Nothing new out here this past week. Quite a few fishermen catching an occasional trout, but what a setting! The fish are here and they aren't uncatchable, but they aren't easy either. This is a river that teaches a lot if you aren't in too much of a hurry. Long leaders and fine tippets rule, and florocarbon tippet helps a lot.

Deschutes River- LowerTrout: The caddis remain thick and there are often huge clouds present in the evenings as long as it doesn't get too breezy. We are still seeing some PMD and PED hatches and the trout will eat a well placed immitation more often than not.
