This is a great time of year to get out and enjoy the fall on the Metolius. It is going to be getting very cold out there soon so take advantage of it while you can. The Kokanee are in the river spawning so fishing egg patterns can work well. We've been seeing some October caddis fly around as well, so don't hesitate to throw your favorite October caddis pattern. Blue-winged olives can also be a good surface pattern in this cooler weather. One other fly recommended to have in your box out there this time of the year is a mahogany dun. The Bull Trout are in the river, however many are up higher in the system. Big streamers, nymphs , and egg patterns will be productive when the Bull Trout get hot as the winter moves in.
