The Siletz has a variety of species to cast for this weekend!

More summer steelhead have been seen higher up in the system, with fresh bright color. Over the coming weeks more will start coming into the system. More fish have been seen higher in the basin, and bank casting higher in the gorge may lead to a successful trip. Hatchery steelhead have been caught throughout the system, though not a lot have been reported.

It’s been a slow start overall to summer steelhead, but with the recent rain on the Coast we are hoping to see more fish that have been kegged up start moving throughout the basin again this weekend.

Going into the weekend the Siletz will be your best bet for any summer steelhead coming back into the basin.

We have seen a few fresh springers high in the system as well although not many reports have come in of springers being caught higher in the system. Some fish may be kegged up lower in the system near tide water waiting for enough rain to move up into the Gorge.

With this week’s rain, as little as it was, we have seen more fish moving throughout the basin.

We have gotten reports of spring Chinook being caught lower-mid basin. Not a huge number but the fishery is picking up.

Trout fishing reopened May 22.
