Best bets for weekend fishing
With warm, sunny weather forecasted across the state, this will be the perfect weekend to kick off some spring fishing.
- Trout stocking is underway in several zones – a couple dozen waterbodies have been stocked this week, and more will be stocked next week.
- Spring Chinook are arriving in the lower Columbia – time to plan your next salmon trip.
- Salmon anglers are also catching Chinook in the lower Rogue and North Umpqua.
- This will be the last weekend to fish for winter steelhead on most coastal rivers and streams – the season closes April 1. Be sure to check the regs before heading out.
- Bottomfishing has been very good off the Oregon coast.
- There should be plenty of holdover trout in lakes and reservoirs that were heavily stocked last spring and summer. These overwintering fish will be hungry and fishing for them can be excellent.
- Warmwater fishing is picking up in several locations thanks to some warmer weather.
Check the zone reports for more options.
